Do not celebrate the Birthday of the Prophet (pbuh)

MAWLID AN-NABAWEE IS FROM DISRESPECTING THE MESSENGER OF ALLAAH ﷺ!
DR. MURTAZA BIN BAKSH HAFIDHAHULLAH:

Points to ponder over whilst listening to this clip:

In the 40 years before his Prophethood he (صلى اللهُ عليه وآله وسَلَّم) never celebrated it!

During 23 years of his Prophethood, he (صلى اللهُ عليه وآله وسَلَّم) never celebrated it!

Abu Bakr never celebrated it!

'Umar never celebrated it!

'Uthmaan never celebrated it!

Alee never celebrated it!

At the Hajjatul-Widaa' there were in

excess of 100,000 Sahabah they

never celebrated it!

The Tabi'een never celebrated it!

The Tabi' Tabi'een never celebrated it!

The four (well known) Imaam's never celebrated it!

None of the Muhaddithin celebrated it!

None from the best of generations celebrated it!

Do you love the Messenger of Allaah(صلى اللهُ عليه وآله وسَلَّم) more than they did!

If you say they (the Prophet, the Companions, the Tabi'een and the Tabi' Tabi'een…) never had the time to celebrate this birthday then surely you have disrespected all of these illustrious people!

It was first innovated by a Shia, Fatimi, Rafidee, Baatinee ruler innovated it in the 4th Century!

Started by the people of Bid'ah! How can you claim to be upon the Sunnah and adopt this practice!

There is still time!

If you are upon this practice then STOP right now and make Tawbah!

If you know someone who is upon this practice then forward this link after listening to it yourself, whilst sincerely asking Allah to guide them to the truth!

ANSWER:

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُه

QUESTION

Can we celebrate Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) birth??..

و عليكم السلام والرحمة الله وبركاته ،

No, the celebration of the birthday of the nabi ﷺ is a bid'ah.

First we see that the sahaba (رضي الله عنهم) who loved the nabi ﷺ the most and they were the best of those who had knowledge about the deen, they never ever celebrated the birth of the nabi ﷺ.

Interestingly we do not even know when the nabi ﷺ was born, there is no reliable report about that!

And what most claim as 12 Rabi ul Awal, we cannot claim that authentically as his day of birth by we know for surety that, that was his day of death!!!

And anything for that is not found in the sunnah of the nabi ﷺ not is there evidence for it in the Quran or reliable sunnah falls in bid'ah (innovation in worship) and is something detested by Allah (ﻋﺰ ﻭ ﺟﻞ).

And we know that this celebration of the birthday of the nabi ﷺ didn't happen until about 300 years passed from the  death of the nabi ﷺ.

And we know that the best people of this ummah were the Salaf-us-Salaiheen, the first three generations of this ummah, so why didn't they celebrate the birthday of the nabi ﷺ? Well because it was never taught by the nabi ﷺ.

There is NO concept of celebrating birthdays in Islam!!!

Some of the scholars allowed it but that was a weak opinion but the vast majority of the scholars who base their minhaj (methodology) on the Salaf-us-Salaiheen have always clarified that it is a bid'ah as explained above.

Hubut

by Sister Fajr (may Allah preserve her)

Hubut (هبوط)

This Qur’an, as much as it is the Gift of Allah which He gives to whom He wishes, it is also the test of Allah for many of us. If we’ve made a sincere decision to memorise the Qur’an, this Book which took 23 years to come down to Earth… we also need to realize that it’s not really going to be one simple, easy, straightforward road from the moment of ‘Azm (resolve) to the day of khatm (completion). It is the case that we’ll face many obstacles on the way, and one obstacle which is not always spoken about is a particular one which I call: Hubut – هبوط (an Arabic term meaning ‘diminution, lack of motivation, laxity, mental blocks, laziness, weakness, slackness’ – you get the idea)

In the course of your Hifdh, watch out for the ‘Hubut’ moments. Those days when you can’t seem to memorise anything, you have a mental block & your motivation feels like it’s just faced the firing squad. Yep, you know what I’m talking about… it’s a strange phenomenon faced by everyone but for the student memorizing Qur’an these ‘down moments’ are public enemy no.1, they can really mess you up and throw you off-course if you don’t know how to deal with them. Some students face major moments of ‘futur’ (laxity) and as a result; they abandon memorisation entirely and never reach their goal of Hifdh al-Qur’an (even though they have memorised over half the Qur’an done). Yeah, it happens.

It’s a frustrating period of time which makes a person sad, disheartened and feel like they’ll never achieve anything. So the one who used to memorise 2 pages a day is reduced to memorizing only a few verses, the one who used to wake up earlier than crows finds himself in hibernation and the one who used to make time for Hifdh despite his busy schedule can no longer be bothered with things.

So why does it happen and when does it happen?

Well, I guess that’s one for the psychologists to answer but in general, these moments can occur randomly and for different reasons. As a student you’ll have always been told to steer clear of sins (the wise advice of Wakee’) and this is because sins bring about these moments of hubut faster and more frequently than anything else – and once you begin to suffer from it, it creates the perfect atmosphere for one to abandon and forget the Qur’an. It’s a major tool of Shaytan which he uses to mislead the slaves of Allah from becoming constant in good deeds (watch him enter hubut into all your ‘ibadat). But sometimes in a person’s attempts of avoiding sin, they fall into the other ‘less known’ causes of hubut:

Stress
Work overload
Long periods of not listening to or reciting Qur’an
Emotions running high or low/emotional instability (such as anger, over-excitement, depression, mood-swings, giddiness etc).
Thinking too much
Eating/sleeping too much
Not finding a companion to work with or a teacher to assist you
Too much empty time
Boredom
Receiving too much criticism from others

For sisters, you may notice hubut near the times of your menstrual cycle and hence you face mental blocks either before, during or after your period.

So what do we do?

Good question, my friend!

But a better question is: ‘What would you do if you were on your way somewhere important and something blocked your road?’ Or ‘What if you were going home from university or work but as you come to the tube station, the Underground folks tell you that the Northern Line has been suspended’ (doesn’t that always happen?) and your route home has now been affected. What do you do?

Your answers would probably include things like:

– Avoid the blockage

– Get around it or move it out of your way somehow

– Find a different route

– Wait a while for things to clear

– Don’t rely on London’s Transport! J

Please, Fajr… something more detailed?

Ok, ok…

· First thing first: When you’ve hit your moment of ‘hubut’, it’s important that you do not end up doing the dreaded, which is: stopping your Hifdh altogether. You can decrease your portion if necessary, but never halt it. Instead, to make up for things, try to increase your listening of Qur’an so have your Surah playing in your iPod or cassette player, around the house, in the car, on your way to work etc. If you are familiar with your hubut and know that it’ll only last a few hours or a day, then maybe take a break from Hifdh for that time period and do something different until your laxity passes by.

· If your moment of hubut is due to something physical (e.g. you’re tired, hungry, or stressed etc) then you need to satisfy this first and overcome it. So sleep well, eat well, relax, and maybe get a massage and do some stretches if your menstrual cycle has made you feel like a hippo stuck in mud lol.

· Stay away from anything which will lower your spirits or demotivate you – be it junk food (this is crime I say), loneliness, laziness, boredom, lack of support, friends/family who may criticize your efforts (be kind and patient with them but take a break as well) basically whatever does not float your boat and gets you down.

· Having some organisation in your life is like having salt and vinegar in your fish and chips. Really, it does wonders to be tidy, neat and organised – and it actually leads you to become more organised and focused at mind. With Hifdh of Qur’an, you need space. That means physical space (periods of solitude to contemplate and memorise) as well as giving yourself mental ‘space’ – if you overwhelm your brain with a hundred ‘things to-do’ and stick-it notes that are scattered in your mind, you just won’t find the focus, motivation or time for Hifdh.

. Routines are the best! You may enjoy living in the fast lane and being like a spontaneous person, but sometimes you need those ‘mundane’ routines in life. Think of them as ‘Thawabit’ – constants that hold you down whenever you feel like you’re about to fall off the road. If for example, you have a regular routine of coming home from work, showering, eating and then sitting down for half an hour to memorise half a page, then when you’re hit by hubut one day, you will naturally still be composed and find it easier to continue with that routine compared to someone who has no routine for their Hifdh – and were you to miss that daily half an hour of Hifdh, you will actually feel weird like something is missing! (Well, it is.)

· Stay active. Have workout sessions where you physically exercise your body, and depending on how fit you are, I would recommend doing rigorous exercise at least two or three times a week – it’ll make you more alert, creates a sense of passion/ambition in life, keeps things like depression, laziness and tiredness at bay and guess what? It’s a sharp sword against hubut and futur.

· Have a deadline, always. Set one deadline for overall Hifdh (e.g. by July 2010) and have another deadline for every commencing week and month etc. Make sure you write these deadlines in different places – on your work desk, in kitchen, as a reminder on your phone, or if you’re a typical Londoner have it engraved on the front of your oyster card! This way, whenever you are faced with hubut, you still have a focus and something to work towards, no matter what.

And the list goes on… Seriously, books can be written on this topic.

A point to note: If you look back at the pre-mentioned causes of hubut, you’ll notice a common factor… they are mainly causes which preoccupy and affect one’s heart. Hence, to avoid hubut, avoid anything which affects the healthy state of your heart, e.g. having too much attachment to this world.

Realise that through the course of memorising Qur’an you will be undergoing a form of training whereby you attain characteristics of a believer insha’Allah – e.g. firm and correct belief, patience, zuhd, gratitude, contemplation, determination, courage, humbleness, you gain good judgement, sound mind, kindness & ease in character (riqqa), and so on bi’ithnillah.

So it’s a training period to see you through life… and naturally any form of training will consist of testing moments or obstacles and hence hubut (as much as it’s an annoying and frustrating occurrence) it actually serves a purpose in the long run – so don’t be disheartened and definitely do not give up J

I ask Allah to keep us and our resolves firm. May He protect us from the downfalls and pitfalls upon this path. Amin

I found this extremely useful. I didn't really know it was common to have this mental block. Excellent article.

9022: Wearing or sitting on skins of wild animals

It states in Al-Bukhari that you cannot wear leopard style clothing. As I was not aware of this fact before I have therefore many leopard style clothing in my wardrobe. I am not intending to buy anymore clothes of this sort, but I was wondering as I have it now, can I make use of it only at home when there's no men around? Or is it not allowed to be worn even if it's at home?.

Praise be to Allaah.

Perhaps the questioner is referring to the hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari (5175) from al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him) which says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade al-mayaathir.

Al-mayaathir was a kind of blanket that they used to put on the saddle of the horse, which was made of silk. And some of the scholars interpreted it as referring to the skins of wild animals. Al-Haafiz ibn Hajar (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Or it may be understood as referring to a stuffed cushion made of animal skin.

Fath al-Baari, 10/293

It was proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade wearing the skins of wild animals or sitting on them.

It was narrated that al-Miqdaam ibn Ma’diyakrib (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbidding the wearing of animal skins or riding on saddles made from them.

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4131; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 3479.

Al-Tirmidhi (1771) and al-Nasaa’i (4253) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade using animal skins as furnishings. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 1450.

It was narrated from Mu’aawiyah ibn Abi Sufyaan (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade tiger skins.

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4239; vclassed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 3566.

It was narrated from Mu’aawiyah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The angels do not accompany a group of people among whom there is a tiger skin.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4130; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 3478.

Al-Mubaarakfoori said in Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi

The ahaadeeth indicate that it is not permissible to make use of animal skins.

The reasons why it is forbidden to make use of them are:

1 – That involves arrogance and showing off, because it is an imitation of tyrants, and because such things are the adornment of those who live luxurious and extravagant lives.

See Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi, and Haashiyat al-Sindi ‘ala Ibn Maajah.

We may add another reason to that, which is that they are naajis (impure), because tanning does not make any skin pure except the skin of an animal that we are permitted to eat. Whatever we are not permitted to eat, its skin cannot be made pure by tanning. This is the view of al-Awzaa’i, ‘Abd-Allaah ibn al-Mubaarak and Ishaaq ibn Raahawayh, and it was narrated from Imam Ahmad. See Sharh Saheeh Muslim by al-Nawawi, 4/54; al-Furoo’by Ibn Muflih, 1/102

This was also the view favoured by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him), according to one of his two opinions.Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 21/95. This view was also favoured by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him); al-Sharh al-Mumti’, 1/74.

If it is haraam to use these skins, it make no difference whether they are worn inside the house or outside, The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us that the angels do not accompany a group of people among whom there is a tiger skin, as stated above.

It says in ‘Awn al-Ma’bood

The hadeeth indicates that it is makrooh to use tiger skins or to take them along on a journey or to bring them into the house, because the fact that the angels do not accompany a group of people among whom there is a tiger skin indicates that the angels do not join a group or enter a house where that thing is present. That can only be because it is not permissible to use it, as it was narrated that the angels do not enter a house in which there are images or pictures. That is taken as evidence that images are haraam and that putting them in houses is haraam.

This applies if the clothes mentioned in the question are made from real tiger skins. With regard to synthetic skins whose colours resemble the colours of animal skins, it is better for him to avoid them so that he will not be accused by someone who does not know what they really are of wearing animal skins which it is haraam to wear.

And Allaah knows best.

opening supplication

Beautiful Explanation of the Opening Supplication in Salah (Prayer) – Shaykh Muhammad Amaan al Jaami (rahimahullaah)

After this, there occurs the opening supplication, which is optional, and states: “Subhaanak Allaahumma wa bia Hamdika. Wa Tabaarakasmuka wa Ta’aala Jadduka. Wa Laa ilaaha Ghayruka.”[Free from imperfections are You, O Allaah, and all praise is Yours. Blessed is Your Name, Glorified be Your Greatness, and there is no deity worthy of worship besides You]

The meaning of “Subhaanak Allaahumma” is: I absolve You from all imperfections in a manner that befits Your majesty. “Wa bi-Hamdika” i.e. while praising You. “Wa Tabaarakasmuka” i.e. blessing can be attained by mentioning You. “Wa Ta’aala Jadduka” i.e. Glorified be Your Greatness. “Wa Laa Ilaaha Ghayruka” i.e. There is nothing that has the right to be worshipped on earth or in heaven except You, O Allaah.

~ the explanation ~

The author, may Allaah have mercy on him, states here that the opening supplication is a recommended act. It is neither a pillar nor a requirement nor a condition. Rather it is supererogatory. He then went on to choose one version of the opening supplication, which is the shortest, amplest, and most comprehensive of these supplications from the perspective of praise, veneration and glorification of Allaah. And it is:“Subhaanak Allaahumma wa hi Hamdika. Wa Tabaarakasmuka wa Ta’aala Jadduka. Wa Laa Ilaaha Ghayruka.”

The great scholar Ibn Al-Qayyim listed a number of opening supplications in his book Zaad al-Ma’aad. But he preferred this supplication over the numerous other ones of this nature, some of which are longer. This is due to the fact that this concise supplication contains such praise, veneration and glorification for Allaah the likes of which cannot be found in other supplications. Other supplications consist more of requests and invocations whereas this one consists of (purely) glorification, honoring and exaltation (of Allaah).

The author then takes it upon himself to explain this supplication as well as what comes after it. The meaning of: “Subhaanak Allaahumma” is: “I absolve You, O Lord, in a manner that befits You, from all imperfections.”  This is an absolving that befits His majesty, and it is derived from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah.

The people are divided in their definitions of absolving Allaah from imperfections. Some people have defined it as negating Allaah’s Attributes, which is why the Jahmiyyah and Mu’tazilah have negated all of Allaah’s Attributes, claiming that they are removing imperfections from Allaah. The reason for this (according to them) is because if one affirms Attributes for Allaah, this leads to likening Allaah to His creation. So, according to them, freeing Allaah from imperfections can only be achieved by negating His Attributes.

The Ashaa’irah and the Matooridiyyah did the same with respect to the textual Attributes. The textual Attributes are those attributes for which the intellect plays no part in affirming. They are only affirmed by way of narrations and textual proofs. According to the understanding of the Ashaa’irah, affirming these attributes literally goes against removing imperfections from Allaah. So as a result they resorted to taweel (misinterpretation). They did not negate the Attributes as others did. Rather, they claimed that what was literally stated in these texts was not what Allaah intended. So therefore, interpreting them them with other than their literal meanings is binding based on the claim of removing imperfections from Allah.

You will notice that everyone who negates or distorts the meaning of Allaah’s Attributes claims to be removing imperfections from Allaah by what they do. When the first group negated Allaah’s Attributes, they did not intend disrespect for Allaah. Rather, according to their claim, they only intended to remove imperfections from Him. But where is this removal of imperfections? They went astray in this regard. Why did they go astray? Because they looked for guidance in other than Allaah’s Book.Whoever searches for guidance in other than the Book of Allaah and in other than what the Messenger brought, will no doubt go astray. This is a principle. Whoever looks for guidance and truth in other than what the Messenger of Allaah came with will be misguided as recompense for turning away (from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah). This is since guidance, correctness and truth is restricted to only that which the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) brought.

If we want to know the true manner of removing Allaah, from imperfections in a manner that befits His majesty, we should read Allaah’s statement:“There is nothing like Him (in comparison), and He is the All Hearer, the All-Seer.” [Surah Ash-Shooraa: 11]

Is there a greater example of removing imperfections from Allaah than this? Allaah affirms Attributes for Himself but negates any comparisons in those Attributes that He has affirmed. This is what is meant by tanzeeh (removing imperfections from Allaah). It is that you affirm for Him what He has affirmed for Himself from complete Attributes, perfect Names and flawless Actions.

Affirm for Him what He has affirmed for Himself. Then negate any comparisons to what He has affirmed (for Himself) since no one can desribe Allaah who is more knowledgeable than Him. Also affirm for what His trusted Messenger has described Him with and negate my comparisons to what he (peace be upon him) has affirmed, since no one can describe Allaah from His creation who is more knowledgeable than Allaah’s Messenger (peace be upon him).

This is how Allaah has guided the people of truth and the callers to truth. So they know how to remove imperfections from Allaah without negating His Attributes, distorting their meaning, making comparisons to them or likening them to His creation. This is the point the author is trying to make when he says: “I absolve You from alt imperfections, my Lord, in a manner that befits You.” This is the type of removing of imperfections from Allaah that befits His majesty, which has been derived from the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

“Wa bi-Hamdika” means: “while praising You.” So this consists of removing imperfections from Allaah while at the same time praising Him. But on the other hand, if you have negated Allaah’s Perfect Attributes, how can you then praise Him?! If you have negated the Attribute of Mercy from Allaah, how can you praise Him? You say that it is impossible for Allaah to have Mercy and that Love is something impossible for Allaah. He is neither loved nor does He love. How then can you praise him when you negate Mercy from Him?

You heard previously the qudsee hadeeth about Al-Faatihah in which it is stated: “And when the servant says: Ar-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem‘, Allaah says: ‘My servant has extolled Me.” As for the one who negates the Attribute of Mercy from Allaah, it is not possible for Him to praise Allaah, since praising Allaah can only be achieved through His exemplary Names, Attributes, and Actions.

“Wa Tabaarakusmuka” means: Blessing is achieved by mentioning You. Your Name is removed from any imperfections and blessing is achieved through mention of Your Name. This is how the author (Muhammad bin Abdil-Wahhaab) has explained it.

“Wa Ta’aala jadduka” means: Glorified be Your greatness grandness. The word “jadd” here takes on the meaning of grandness and self sufficiency. So it means: “Glorified be Your Grandness and self-sufficiency.”

This means that: “No one on earth or in heaven is worshipped with due right except for You, O Allaah.” The phrase “with due right” must be mentioned when explaining the meaning of “Laa Ilaaha illaaAllaah. You must include “due right” or “rightfully” or else the meaning will be wrong. If you were to say: “There is no one worshipped in the heavens or on the earth except for You” we would be contradicting reality since those who are worshipped are many. But the one who is worshipped after all others have been negated is the One who is worshipped in truth or with “due right.”

There is no one worshipped on earth or in heaven with due right except for You. As for those who are worshipped in the heavens and the earth, the worship of them is futile and invalid. The sun and the moon are worshipped but worshiping them is invalid. Trees are worshipped. Many of the large trees with many branches (known as dawhaat) are still worshipped today. This goes also for stones, tombs and shrines. The worship of these things is futile.

This also applies to the worship of Jinn and the worship of graves. Every time something is worshipped, it becomes known as a “god” according to the language. It is not called Allaah, but rather a “false” god. The term “god” is general and encompasses the One who is worshipped with due right as well as those that are worshipped wrongfully. The word “Allaah” is specifically reserved for the One who is worshipped with due right – the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Them is no one worshipped in the heavens or the earth (with due right)except for you, O Allaah.

" Get Tawakkul, Forget Your Fears, and Enter the Gates!"

Two men of those who feared, upon both of whom Allah had bestowed a favor, said: Enter upon them by the gate, for when you have entered it you shall surely be victorious, and on Allah should you rely if you are believers.
[Quran, 5:23]

Get Tawakkul, Forget Your Fears, and Enter the Gates!

Understand Quran Academy > Articles > Get Tawakkul, Forget Your Fears, and Enter the Gates!

You must have had those moments when you felt so strong, thinking:whatever needs to happen will happen. That sweet feeling of trusting in Allaah subhanahu wa ta’alaa is priceless, granting an amazing peace of mind.

Then there are the times you get tense. You worry. You feel a knot in your stomach. What if things just don’t get better? What if I lose him or her? What if I get ill?

Musa ‘alayhi sallam was standing with his people. He invited them to enter Palestine, but they refused. Why? They were scared. Scared of the future. Scared to be hurt. Scared to fail. Then two courageous believers stood up and announced:

Enter upon them through the gate, for when you enter it, you will be the dominant. And rely upon Allah (have Tawakkul), if you are believers.
[Quran, 5:23]

Rely upon Allah, if you are believers.Let’s learn how this beautiful Quranic advice can make us more productive!

Tawakkul, a Garden in This World

Tawakkul is reliance on Allahsubhanahu wa ta’alaa. You trust in Allah’s plan and accept whatever He decides, regardless of the results. At first that seems difficult, but in reality it is a very natural and easy thing to do.

Imagine you have a certain illness and you have the chance to go to the best specialist in the whole world. Wouldn’t you feel at ease, fully entrusting your health to him?

We have the Ultimate Trustee to whom we can entrust our affairs and we can be 100% sure He’ll look after them in the best way possible for every single individual. He is Allah, Al-Wakeel.

Give Yourself Over

The word tawakkul also comes from the root وكل (w-k-l), which means “to give oneself over to, to rely/depend on, or have confidence in another.” Tawakkul means that you teach and train yourself to give yourself over to, to rely on, and to have full confidence in Allahsubhanahu wa ta’alaa.

You can really understand this concept when you’re facing challenges and stress in your life. I can’t say it enough: when you manage to have tawakkul, you’ll feel so relieved. So strong. And so productive.

How to Have Tawakkul: 5 Tips

Here are some tips and motivators on how to train yourself to rely upon Allah alone.

1.      Never be lazy.

Tawakkul sometimes is mistaken for “sitting back” and thinking your problems will be solved just by believing Allah will take care of your affairs. But look at what emaan is. It is not just having faith, as it’s often translated. It’s the combination of faith and acting upon that faith.

The same goes for tawakkul. Don’t give up on your own efforts. Rather strive and work with the attitude that Allah will take care of your affairs and will help you get through your trials. This proactive attitude is in fact part of you havingtawakkul.

Remember when the Prophetsalallaahu alayhi wa sallam asked the Bedouin, “Why don’t you tie down your camel?” The Bedouin answered, “I put my trust in Allah.” The Prophet then said, “Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah” [At-Tirmidhi].

2.      Never be arrogant.

You should always plan and work based on what Allah has blessed you with in knowledge, intelligence, and free will. You should fully use those blessings by thanking Allah for them, without ever feeling proud or arrogant about your abilities. You work, but it is Allah who gave you the ability to work, and ultimately it’s the favor of Allah which will make you successful or not.

3.         Go for the fruit.

Accept whatever happens.  You should believe that Allah ‘azza wajal out of His wisdom may decide to supersede all your plans for reasons that only He knows. This is the fruit of tawakkul. Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali said, The fruit of tawakkul is the acceptance of Allah’s decree. Whoever leaves his affairs to Allah and then is accepting of what he is given has truly relied on Allah.

Remind yourself that believing in al-Qadr (Allah’s divine will and decree) is one of the pillars of your faith. Tell yourself that whatever will happen will happen and that you can only do the best you can.

Allah al-Qadeer will never ever let something bad happen to you, even though you might fear it. In every matter is good for a believer. If you live by this fact, what can get you down? You might bend, but you’ll never break!

4.         Precaution!

Even as Prophet Yaqub alayhi sallam took all precautionary measures when he sent his sons to Egypt and advised them to enter from different gates of the city, so they wouldn’t look suspicious. His measures were overtaken by the divine decree. But still he took all the measures he could to avoid any possible risk.

This is where most of us go wrong. We either rely on our efforts and measures and discard our trust in Allah, or we rely on “trust in Allah” and don’t adopt any practical measures to solve our problems.

5.      Rejoice— Allah is al-Wakeel.

Allah is al-Wakeel, the ultimate and the best trustee. Everything He decrees for us is good for us. He’s the best disposer of affairs. He’s sufficient for all of us.  So aren’t you “lucky” you can entrust your affairs to Him? Remind yourself that Allah is the ultimate trustee; give yourself and your affairs over to Him with a sense of full comfort and certainty in your heart.

Benefits of Tawakkul: 3 steps to Success

Let’s strive to understand and applytawakkul in our daily lives. Because when you taste that amazing feeling of peace in your mind, strength in your limbs, and the breeze of tranquility in your heart, you’ll never want to be without it again!

Train yourself to have tawakkul and you’ll notice that things will not only get resolved more easily with His help, but tawakkul will also relieve you from your daily worries.

Finally, before making any effort, remind yourself of these 3 steps:

Put your trust in Allah Al-WakeelUse your God-granted faculties to put in your best effortsBelieve in Qada wal-qadr (the divine decree)

May Allah subhanahu wa ta’alaa make our words and actions the result of tawakkul, aid us to use all His blessings the best way we can while depending on Him, and strengthen us with unshakable belief in His Decree by accepting whatever He chooses to be the outcome, ameen!

I pray you will benefit,

Homemaking

JazakAllah khair

10 ways to make homemaking a stress-free ibadah!

By Nourin Ibrahim

Abu Dhabi, UAE

The phone is ringing … as I run to attend it, I realise the living room is a mess with toys lying all over.

As I start speaking, the call from the potty comes “Mama! I’m done!”

The pressure cooker then whistles and wakes up the sleeping baby.

While this is my average day, I am not complaining. Seriously. Alhamdulillah for all these blessings — kids, provision, shelter and so much more. But I know that I, and all stay-at-home mummies like me, feel stressed out at times. So, let’s tackle it together.

People often tend to view “Homemaking” as a list of chores like cleaning, washing and cooking of course.

This concept needs to be rebuilt.

Homemaking is all about making a HOME.

All these chores are physical in nature, but we need to first touch the emotional side of it.

Bringing up bright and pious children into the world, providing and fostering all needs of your man and still maintaining a peaceful and happy home … all this is indeed a big deal.

So, I am presenting a few ideas which might help you and me run a household smoothly.
1.Realise everything is from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and everything happens according to Allah’s plan. Accepting this should definitely take a lot of pressure away at once.
2.Make lots of dua’ and ask Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) to make your affairs easy for you.
3.You are constantly setting goals in your mind — what is the work that needs to be completed today? What should I cook? But if it doesn’t go as per your plan, take it easy! Nothing will happen if you mop the floor the next day or order from a restaurant for a change. Everyone knows kids are unpredictable.
4.Re-energise your imaan listening to a good lecture while mopping the floor or cutting veggies. If you are a nursing mother, utilise the time to read some beneficial material.
5.Find out easy recipes of your family’s favourite dishes, it save loads of time.
6.Treating children as creations of Allah will help us be more patient (a reminder to myself first).
7.Cut down anything and everything that causes Allah’s displeasure and is a complete waste of time. Time is extremely precious.
8.Stress comes when you are overdoing it. Take things easy. Cleanliness is half of faith but that doesn’t mean you do cleaning all day long. Imagine a clean house with frustrated kids and a tired wife when the master of the house arrives!
9.Don’t feel distressed thinking you are moving away from the path of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) due to lack of time. Try and make every act of yours an ibadah. This is what you need to do: have the right intentions with proper action and lots of dua. There, you are done
10.Take care of yourself first so that you are able to take care of others.

Happiness comes from within. If we cannot be happy within our own homes and with our own families, chances are very few of us will be happy elsewhere.

May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) make it easy for every Muslimah Mama. Ameen

The virtues of Soorat al-Ikhlaas, etc.

http://islamqa.info/en/2241

2241: The virtues of Soorat al-Ikhlaas, etc.

I have been practicing Islam for some time now and I am still in the process of learning. A Muslim friend of mine gave me a book on Duas and in this book the author tells you exactly which surahs and duas to say after each salaat. The problem I have is that some of the surahs which he mentions, I never heard of before and I think that maybe they have other names. There are also verses from the Quran that has to be said but are in Arabic. I hope that you will be able to help me as I am anxious to know exactly what surahs and duas they are:
1. Surah ALHAMDU
2. Surah INNAFATAHNA
3. Dalailul Khrirat (one part)
4. ALLAHUS SAMAD (Is this one of Allah's 99 names that has to be recited 500 times or is it a name of a dua?)
5. Surah AMMA YATASA ALOON
6. Ayat Karimah, i.e. "Lailaha illa anta Subhanaka inna Kunto minazzalimeen" 100 times (Please give it to me in English and tell me which surah it's from?)

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly, the better-known names and numbers of the soorahs about which you ask are as follows:

Soorah al-hamdu is Soorat al-Faatihah (the Opening), soorah #1

Soorah Innaa fatahnaa is Soorat al-Fath (the Victory), soorah #48

Allaahu’s-Samad is Soorat al-Ikhlaas (the Purity), soorah #112

‘Amma yatasaa’aloon is Soorat al-Naba’ (the Great News), soorah #78

The aayah “La ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu min al-zaalimeen (None has the right to be worshipped except You [O Allaah]. Glorified (and Exalted) are You. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers)” is from Soorat al-Anbiyaa’, Soorah 21, aayah 87.

A word of warning: The book Dalaa’il al-Khayraat contains da’eef (weak) and fabricated ahaadeeth, and prescribes things that are contrary to the truth, so it is not right for anyone to rely on this book.

Secondly, a translation of the Qur’aan in English or any other language is not counted as Qur’aan itself, and the rulings that apply to Qur’aan do not apply to it. The Qur’aan is the Word of Allaah which was revealed in the Arabic tongue.

Thirdly, al-Ahad (the One) and al-Samad (the Self-Sufficient) are two of the great Names of Allaah.

Fourthly, stating that Soorat al-Ikhlaas should be recited 500 times, and that the aayah (interpretation of the meaning) “La ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu min al-zaalimeen(None has the right to be worshipped except You [O Allaah]. Glorified (and Exalted) are You. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers)” [al-Anbiyaa’ 21:87] should be recited 100 times is a practice that has no basis whatsoever in the Qur’aan or the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so it is not right to adhere to these numbers. You should act upon the sound ahaadeeth that describe the virtues of this soorah and this aayah. These reports include the following:

From Qutaadah ibn al-Nu’maan (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said that a man stayed up to worship Allaah at the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) just before dawn and recited “Qul huwa Allaahu ahad,” but did not recite anything else. In the morning, the man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and told him about this, thinking that perhaps he was not doing enough. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur’aan.” (al-Bukhaari, 4627).

Ahmad reported from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri that a man said, “O Messenger of Allaah, I have a neighbour who prays at night and he only ever recites ‘Qul huwa Allaahu ahad’” – as if he did not think much of this. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur’aan.” (al-Musnad, 10965)

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to his Companions: ‘Could any one of you not recite one third of the Qur’aan in one night?’ They found the idea too difficult, and said, ‘Who among us could do that, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He said, ‘Allaahu’l-ahad, al- samad [i.e., Soorat al-Ikhlaas] is one third of the Qur’aan.’” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4628)

‘Aa’ishah reported that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to bed, he would cup his hands together, blow into them and recite into them Qul huwa Allaahu ahad [Soorat al-Ikhlaas], Qul a’oodhu bi Rabbi’l-falaq [Soorat al-Falaq] and Qul a’oodhu bi Rabbi’l-naas [Soorat al-Naas] (these are the last 3 soorahs of the Qur’aan – Translator). Then he would wipe as much of his body as he could with his hands, starting with his head and face, and the front of his body. He would do this three times. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4630)

‘Aa’ishah also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent a man in charge of a small military campaign, and when he recited Qur’aan whilst leading his companions in prayer, he would always end with Qul huwa Allaahu ahad. When they came back, (his companions) mentioned that to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), who told them to ask him why he did that. So they asked him, and he said, “Because it is a description of the Most Merciful, and I love to recite it.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Tell him that Allaah loves him.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 6827)

‘Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Abzaa reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite Sabbih isma Rabbik al-A’laa (Soorat al-A’laa, #87), Qul yaa ayyuhaa’l-kaafiroon (Soorat al-Kaafiroon, #109) and Qul huwa Allaahu ahad (Soorat al-Ikhlaas, #112) in his witr prayer, and when he had finished, he would repeat Subhaan al-Malik al-Quddoos (Glory be to the King, the Holy) three times, making the last vowel long on the third recitation. (Reported by al-Nisaa’i, 1721)

‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir said: “I met the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)… and he said to me, ‘O ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir, shall I not teach you some Soorahs the like of which have not been revealed in the Tawraat (Torah) or the Zaaboor (Psalms) or the Injeel (Gospel) or in the Qur’aan? There is no night comes but you should not recite (i.e., every night you should recite) Qul huwa Allaahu ahad [Soorat al-Ikhlaas], Qul a’oodhu bi Rabbi’l-falaq [Soorat al-Falaq] and Qul a’oodhu bi Rabbi’l-naas [Soorat al-Naas].’” ‘Uqbah said: “So every night I would recite them. It became my duty to recite them, because the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had commanded me to do so…” (Musnad Ahmad, 16810)

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) heard a man reciting Qul huwa Allaahu ahad, and said, “It is his right.’ They asked, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what is his right?’ He said, ‘Paradise is his right.’ (Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 7669)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites Qul huwa Allaahu ahad ten times, Allaah will build for him a house in Paradise.” (Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 6472).

So recite it as many times as you wish, without sticking to a certain number or time or way that is not prescribed by sharee’ah.

With regard to the aayah “La ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu min al-zaalimeen”, the following report has been narrated concerning its virtues:

Sa’d said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘The call of Dhoo’l-Noon [Yoonus/Jonah], which he recited when he was in the belly of the fish, ‘La ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu min al-zaalimeen. There is no Muslim who recites this in any situation, but Allaah will respond to him.” (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 3427, and classed as saheeh in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 3383).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Shall I not tell you of something which, if some of the misery and distress of this world befalls a man and he recites it, he will be relieved of his stress. It is the du’aa’ of Dhoo’l-Noon: ‘La ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu min al-zaalimeen.’” (Reported by al-Haakim; Saheeh al-Jaami’, 2605).

We ask Allaah to help us, you and all our Muslim brothers to gain beneficial knowledge and to do righteous deeds. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad,

Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid
