Dhul Hijjah Series:
10 BEST DAYS OF THE YEAR!
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
This Tuesday we will enter the blessed and sacred month of Dhul Hijjah, the month of Hajj, and the month in which are the 10 best days of the entire year.
"The first 10 days are even greater in virtue than the days of Ramadan, however it is the last 10 nights of Ramadan which are the best nights of the entire year, as the night of al-Qadr falls within it.
This is a great opportunity to acquire reward and forgiveness for all of our deeds, so do not let these days pass without making the most of it.
'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās (may Allāh ﷻ be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:
There are NO days in which good deeds are more beloved to Allāh ﷻ than those deeds done in these 10 days.
So they said: "O Messenger of Allāh, not even Jihād in the path of Allāh?"
He replied: "Not even Jihād in the path of Allāh, EXCEPT for the man who goes out with his self and his wealth, and he does not return with any of these things (i.e. he attains shahādah)."
[Reported by al-Tirmidhī & Abū Dawūd]
We should try to increase in all our 'Ibādah and do as many good deeds as possible.
We should try to fast the first 9 days of this blessed month, and if one is unable to do so, then the best day of the year is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah which is the Day of 'Arafah, and it is from the Sunnah to fast on this day, which if accepted is forgiveness for the sins of the year before and the year to come.
Among the other specific deeds in relation to this month (for those able to do so) is offering an animal for sacrifice, which should be done on Yawm al-Nahr, the 10th of Dhul Hijjah which is also known as 'Īd al-Adhā.
It is also from the Sunnah throughout the 10 days to recite Takbīr (Allāhu Akbar), Tahmīd (Alhamdulillāh), Tahlīl (Lā Ilāha Illā Allāh) and Tasbīh (Subhān'Allāh). For men this should be done out loud, but women should say it quietly.
For those who are not able to perform the Hajj this year, be sure to make plenty of effort in doing as many good deeds as possible, as perhaps we may not live until the next season of Hajj.
May Allāh ﷻ accept from us and from you."

📖 RAW NOTES:
The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah like never before!
from SISTERS’ PROJECT Circle of Knowledge:
Innal hamdulilahi, nahmaduhu wa nasta’eenuhu wa nastaghfiru. Wa na’udhu billahi min shururi an fusinaa. Wa min sayyi’ati ‘amaalina. Man yahdi-hillahu falaa mudilla-lah.Wa man yudlil falaa haadiyalah. Wa ashadu an la ilaha ilAllah wahdahu la sharika la, wa ashadu ana Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu salallahu alayhi wa sallam.
All praise is due to Allah. We praise Him and seek His assistance. We ask for His forgiveness and take refuge in Him from the evil within ourselves and from the evil of our deeds. He whom Allah guides will never be diverted yet whomever He sends astray will never find his way. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, He has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger.
🔹Being thankful for these blessed days
Surah Al Fajr: Meaning ‘By the dawn/day break’
ayah 2: wa layyaalin ashr - and by the ten nights
Opinion scholars: Allah azza wa jall is swearing on the last 10 nights of Ramadan or Allah is swearing on the 10 nights of the 1st ten days of Dhul Hijjah. InshaAllah today we will discuss in reference to the 2nd opinion (also held by Ibn Katheer)
🌱LESSON: Can u imagine Allah Himself swearing on something?? Likewise the 1st ten days of Dhul Hijjah are immensely important and we should thank Allah SWT for the blessing of these days.
How can we thank Allah SWT?
By doing those things and deeds through which we can attain the maximum benefit and reward. To do those deeds the most beautiful, beloved, respectful and humble way. This is what ibaadah is.
Do you feel now like you felt in the last ten nights of Ramadan? Why? Because we don’t realize the importance of these days of Dhul Hijjah. Did you prepare for them? Did you make an action plan?
🔹What is Dhul Hijjah?
It means the month of pilgrimage, the Month of Hajj, Last Islamic month (12th)of the year, It is one of the 4 sacred months in which fighting is forbidden.
🔹History facts dhul hijjah
* The Prophet (saw) performed the farewell Hajj and gave the historic sermon known as the "Farewell Sermon" * Egypt was conquered by the army sent by Umar (ra) * Uthmaan (ra) was appointed the 3rd Khalifah * Fatimah (ra) married the 4th Khalifah, Ali (ra) * Umar (ra) was martyed on the 27th of Dhul Hijjah in the year 26AH * Uthman (ra) was maryted on the 18th of Dhul Hijjah in the year 35AH
🔹Overview of these ‘honourable’ days:
1st Dhul Hijjah –10th Dhul Hijjah
1-8th Dhul Hijjah
Pilgrims assume or put their ihram on with the intention of performing hajj, the pilgrims leave and all head to Mina. For the non-pilgrims these days are of immense ibaadat and reward.
9th Dhul Hijjah = Yawm-e-Arafat. Most beloved day to Allah SWT
Pilgrims they leave to go to a place called Arafat. Here the Pilgrims pray and ask of Allah SWT. This is the Hajj Day This is what Hajj is Non pilgrims it is a day of fasting which is the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw)
10th Dhul Hijjah = Yawm alNahar = Day of Sacrifice
The day when the pilgrims go to hit the Shaitan, Jamaarat cut their hair take off their ihram perform the sacrifice
Eidul-adha Big eid- people often don’t bother celebrating this Eid. Day of Qurbani or Haddiyah
Note: there is no chand raat like Christmas eve!
11th Dhul Hijjah = Yawm-al-Qarr – Pilgrims stay in Mina
10-13th Dhul Hijjah = Qurbani can be performed
🔹Importance of this Month
Last 10 nights of Ramadhan are virtuous - Likewise there are 10 days that are MORE virtuous
Many people are not aware of this, there is so much emphasis on the days of Ramadhan yet very little on these days and that is only because of our ignorance. These days are a chance to bring back that feeling you had in Ramadhan that closeness you experienced, the eman boost you had. It is a blessed gift, a fresh opportunity to erase our sins and cleanse ourselves. It is also a second chance, for those who felt Ramadan slip through their fingers And these are the 1st 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah!
🔹Realize Virtue: The Prophet (saw) said, “No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijjah).” Then some companions of the Prophet (saw) said, “Not even Jihad?” He replied, “Not even Jihad”, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah's sake) and does not return with any of those things.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari 15:86]
The standing (wuqoof) in ‘Arafah reminds you of the throngs of people on the Day of Gathering. If you feel tired from being in a crowd of thousands, how will it be in the crowds of barefoot, naked, uncircumcised people, standing for fifty thousand years?
9th Dhul-Hijjah: Allah SWT frees people from hell: The Prophet (saw) said: “There is no day on which Allah SWT sets free more people from hell than on the day of Arafat. “
Fast on this day: to expiate minor sins previous and next year
You will have your minor sins forgiven with the fast of ‘Arafah (In sha Allah) So what about your major sins?
REPENT for your major sins on this day! “There is no day when Allah ransoms more slaves from the Fire than the day of ‘Arafah. He draws near and expresses His pride to the angels and says: ‘What do these people want?’” [Sahih Muslim]
🔹 Think about all your sins and repent sincerely and remember that Allah is capable of forgiving all our sins no matter how great they are.“Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”[39, Verse 53]
These grand days are a great opportunity to quit your sinful habits once and for all! Be regretful for committing sins and make a strong determination to never commit them ever again.
🐏❤FEEL YOUR QURBANI
10th Dhul Hijjah: Yawm alnahar: day of sacrifice The Prophet (saw) said‘ The best day in the sight of Allah SWT, Blessed is He, the Most High, is Yawm alnahar (day of sacrifice), then Yawm al Qarr (the 11th of Dhul Hijjah, the day the pilgrims begin their stay in Mina).’ (Musnad Ahmed)
🔹UDHIYA (Arabic for sacrificial animal) It is performed on the days of sacrifice which is the 10th, 11th or 12th of Dhul Hijjah.
One may sacrifice a thousand animals on days other than these, but it will never be regarded or considered as udh’hiya. Therefore the qurbani is a sacred act which can only be done during the three days of Dhul Hijjah as specified.
✔Let your sacrifice renew your taqwa. After the fasting of Ramadan whose main purpose was “…that you may become righteous”[Qur'an: Chapter 2, Verse 183],
The sacrifice is a symbol of: Attaining Allah’s pleasure and approval, Expression of ones love and servitude to Allah SWT: to attain Taqwa! Look at this ayah:
Allah SWT says in Surah al Hajj v37: “Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you.”
- What is the History behind the Qurbani? Ibrahim was ready to give up everything for the sake of Allah
- Do your kids know this story?
– tell your kids
🔪Sacrifice vs Emotions💚
When you slaughter your sacrifice, you are reminded of the great event when our father Ibraaheem submitted to the command of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to sacrifice his only son Ismaa’eel, after he had grown up and become a help to him. You remind yourself that there is no room for emotions which go against the commands and prohibitions of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
And very important; we have to work hard every day to instil sabr in our children like Ismaa’eel, who said (interpretation of the meaning): “ ‘O my father! Do that which you are commanded. In shaa Allaah (if Allaah wills), you will find me of al-saabireen (the patient ones).’” [al-Saaffaat 37:102]
❗Fiqh of sacrifice
Upon sighting the moon, the one offering Qurbani should stop and not cut their hair and nails
* We learn from the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) that the one who wants to offer a sacrifice must stop cutting his hair and nails and and not remove anything from his skin,
* This is from the sighting of the moon until one has offered his sacrifice, as the Prophet (saw) said: “When you see the new moon of Dhu’l-Hijjah, if any one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, then he should stop cutting his hair and nails until he has offered his sacrifice.”
Scholars have said that if the man of the household sacrifices an animal on behalf of his family – the family members can still cut nails etc, just the person who is financially/ and or pyscially doing the sacrifice has to not cut nails etc – And Allah knows best.
One who wants to offer a sacrifice may resemble those in ihraam in some aspects of the rituals performed So that he may draw closer to Allah by offering the sacrifice When a slave was purchased, his head would be shaved to show he has a master >Hopes that Allah SWT will save him the hellfire. And Allah knows best in this matter.
🔷HIGHLIGHTS OF THINGS TO DO THESE 10 DAYS:
PRAY: Take special care of your obligations
Before talking about any voluntary actions (and bonuses), it is important to remind ourselves that we must first take care of all our obligations. How can we think of building and beautifying a house without constructing its pillars? Thus, we have to pay special attention to the pillars of Islam and strive to perfect our obligations.
Pray on time (and in congregation, for men)
Voluntary prayers (nawaafil)
BEST OF ALL TAHAJJUD – EACH NIGHT Due to its worth in the sight of Allah, the reward for the extra night prayers has been kept secret. as Allah SWT says in the Qur’an,
Surah As-Sajdah, 32 v16-17: Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (in charity in Allâh's Cause) out of what We have bestowed on them (v16) No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do (v17)
1. for house in Jannah (2 before fajr, 4 before dhohr, 2 after dohr, 2 after maghrib, 2 after esha)
2. Whoever sticks to the habit of offering four rak`ahs before Noon Prayer & four rak`ahs after it, Allah will shield him against the Hell-Fire.” [Sunan An-Nasai]
3. duha prayer between 7 am and 12 30 noon (two rakaat or more even amount of rakaat)
4. salatul tawbah
– after bad deed/shortcoming, pray 2 rakaat
5. 2 raka’ahs sunnah after performing wudhu “Tell me about the best of your deeds (i.e. one which you deem the most rewarding) since your embracing Islam because I heard your footsteps in front of me in Paradise.” Bilal (may Allāh be pleased with him) replied: “I do not consider any act of mine more rewarding than that whenever I make ablution at any time of night or day, I perform Prayer for as much as was destined for me to do.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
🔹SAY THIS DHIKR AND MEAN IT-Alhamdulillah
Verily all praise and thanks belong to You. Hamd means praise and thanks. When it comes to praise, you can think of a number of things. Allah [swt] has more than 99 Names and for each of His names, you can praise Him.
For example, O Allah! You are the best in showing intense mercy (Ar-Rahman), the best in showing continuous mercy (Ar-Raheem), the best Creator (Al-Khaliq), and so on.
🌱Don’t complain! When something bad happens think of something good you have.
🐪
Earn the reward of a Hajj without going to Makkah:
“Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun has risen, then he prays two Rak’ah, then for him is the reward like that of a Hajj and Umrah.” He said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Complete, complete, complete.’” [Al-Tirmidhi]
🔹Istighfar: "AstaghfirAllah"
The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Whoever wants his book given to him on the Judgment Day as he is happy then let him do alot of Istighfar."
🌱Do not only do Istighfar for yourself but rather for the entire Ummah because the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) taught us that when you do Istighfar for the entire Ummah you will get the reward for each one of them."Allahuma 'ghfir lilmu'mineen walmu'minat."
🔹Making salah and salam on the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)
Every time you make salah and salam on the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) a angel goes to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and tells him that son of so and so did salam on you. Every time you do salah and salam on the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) the angel do salah and salam upon you, their salah and salam on you is asking Allah (azza wajal) to forgive you.
💝FAMILY
Respecting and honouring our parents: Islam teaches us that of the most beloved deeds to Allah, having respect for one’s parents is second only to that of prayer and is greater than that of fighting in His cause. It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah bin Mas’ood (may Allāh be pleased with him), who observed: “I asked Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) which deed was the best.” He (the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)) replied: ‘The Prayer at its appointed hour.’ I (again) asked: “Then what?” He (the Holy Prophet) replied: ‘Kindness to the parents.’ I (again) asked: “Then what?” He replied: ‘Earnest struggle (Jihad) in the cause of Allah.’ I refrained from asking any more questions for fear of annoying him. [Sahih Muslim]
Recite Qur’an with them, read a book together, discuss a lecture you heard, share your plans for the future and seek their input. Drive your father to the masjid if he is unable to walk there and earn reward for doing so, or call them a few more times in the day if they live far away.
👅 ‘Labbayk Allaahumma labbayk’ vs Watching your tongue!
As when we say Labbayk, we intend to speak only of obedience to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and avoid talk of disobedience. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala watches us and our speech all the time, so we daily have to watch our tongue and avoid the two biggest problems we have with this muscle: gossiping and excessive talking!
Just like the person performing Hajj must refrain from getting into disputes and acts of disobedience or risk the acceptance of their Hajj, you should try to do the same.
🔹Forgive everyone no matter what they have done to you.
🔹Visit the sick.
🔹Have good relations with people, especially your parents, relatives and neighbors. This would be the best time to re-establish ties of kinship and put barakah in your life.
❤QURAN Read more Quran, contemplating the meaning
Have those blessed moments with the Qur’an like you did in Ramadhan.
Know always that every word you recite carries great reward as the Prophet (saw) said "Whoever recites one letter of the Quran, for him shall be one reward (hasanah) and each reward is multiplied by ten.
🔷Seek the times dua'a is more likely accepted and among them are:
1- 1/3 end of night
2- before salah between Adhan and Iqamah
3- when the Imam is on the minbar during Jumu'ah Friday
4- during the rain
5- in sujood
🌱LESSON: Start your dua'a in praising Allah (azza wajal) and the prophet Muhammad. And use the Names of Allah. Repent and ask for forgiveness, keep these things in mind when making dua
Eg Yaa Rahmaan, I know you are the most Merciful and I am your slave, peace and blessings on the prophet Muhammad ... [start your dua]
🍛FAST all 9 days
This is not fardh but a commendable act. Nafl means that act which is done with happiness, he is happy to do it for the sake of Allah SWT.
“Whoever observes fast for a day in the way of Allah (non-obligatory fasting observed for the sole purpose of pleasing Allah and seeking His blessings), Allah will remove his face from the Hell to the extent of seventy years’ distance.” [Sahih Muslim]
Finally...
If you have not yet fulfilled the obligation of Hajj, make special dua to Allah to grant you the opportunity to do so soon and in the best of manners.
In your next sujood- ask Allah to help you make the best of these days.
Please make dua for the sisters of SISTERS’ PROJECT for Allah azza wa jall to be pleased with them and to place barakah in SISTERS’ PROJECT so we can revive sisterhood in action together!
Subhanakallahuma wa bihamdik nastaghfiruka wa natoobu ilayk.

"la ilaaha illa Allaah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulk wa lahul hamd, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer."
6. About 20 minutes after sunrise pray 2 rakahs. This all amounts to the reward of a complete Hajj & umrah. So do not waste it!
Anas narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: “Whoever prays the Fajr prayer in congregation and then he remains sitting mentioning Allaah until the sun rises, and then he prays two Rak’ahs, will receive the reward of one Hajj and one ‘Umrah, complete, complete, complete.” [At-Tirmidhee]
7. If you're able to stay awake, by all means do so and do not waste a single minute. If you need to sleep, take a nap with the conscious intention of energising yourself for the worship of Allaah.
8. When you wake up, make wudoo and pray at least 4 rakahs of duha (at its appropriate time). Recite Qur'an and make the dhikr mentioned above in breaks in between.
(Make dhikr after Dhuhr as you prepare food or as you do what is absolutely necessary.
9. Pray 4 sunnah rakaat before and AFTER Dhohr.
10. After Asr, say the evening adhkar. Then recite Qur'an again till about an hour before Maghrib. At that point, make LOTS of du'a till Maghrib, while having yaqeen that Allah will answer.
(Preparing a du'a list ahead of time helps!)
💟We will send you a link to a beautiful dua list in English you can use.
Beg that the day will not come to an end except that Allah has forgiven you all your sins and written you of those He has freed from the Fire. Don't forget the Muslims suffering all over the world.
11. During the day say at least:
🔺100x subhanAllahi wa bihamdihi
🔺100x astaghfirullaha wa atoobu ilayh
🔺100x laa ilaaha illa Allaah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulk wa lahul hamd, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer."
🔺don't forget the: Allahu akbar Allahu akbar laa ilaaha illAllah Allahu akbar Allahu akbar wa lillaahil hamd
💝Share and gain rewards of every single person that practises it, inshaaAllah!

💚A special takbeer after each fard salah from fajr Yawmul Arafah (TODAY)!
🌱A way of saying takbeer is to say: Allaahu akbar Allaahu akbar Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar wa lillaahil hamd.
There are two types of takbeer these days.
1. Takbeer first 10 days & days of tashreeq.
It is Sunnah to recite takbeer at any time during the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah and all the days of Tashreeq (11,12, 13th) This takbeer is prescribed until the end of the days of al-Tashreeq, which is when the sun sets on the thirteenth day of Dhu’l-Hijjah.
❗2. Special takbeer to be said after each obligatory prayer!
There's also a specific time to say this takbeer, which is from fajr on the day of ‘Arafah (so starting after fajr coming morning) until the sun sets on the last day of the days of Tashreeq, in ADDITION to the takbeer that may be recited at any time.
🔸So you say the tasleem (salaam) at the end of the obligatory prayer, you should pray for forgiveness (by saying Astaghfir-Allaah) three times, and say, “Allaahumma anta al-salaam wa minka al-salaam, tabaarakta yaa dhaa’l-jalaali wa’l-ikraam (“O Allaah, You are al-Salaam [the One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies), and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O possessor of majesty and honour)”,
🔹then start the takbeer.
(like above one).
This is for those who are not on Hajj.
(Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz, al-Sharh al-Mumti’ by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen)
So apart from saying the takbeer randomly all day, which you did the past 9 days and do until the sunset of 13 Dhul-Hijjah, it is now ALSO sunnah to say this takbeer specifically after each fardh prayer (from today fajr until sunset 13th dhul hijjah)!!
🍬Revive this sunnah and be rewarded with a place close to Rasulullah in Jannah inshaaAllah, isn't that worth it?
Much love,

๐JACKPOT!
ReplyDeleteAssalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
Imagine the rewards of reviving the sunan (pl of sunnah) of FRIDAY in the best days of the year! Share it with others:
๐ฑDo ghusl – use miswaak- wear your good clothes - and go to the jumuah prayer.
๐นReward: “The five prayers and from one Friday to (the next) Friday prayer, is an expiation (of the sins committed in between them) if major sins are not committed” (Sahih Muslim)
๐ฑYou should stop buying and selling when the call to Friday prayer starts until it ends.
๐ฑSay your dua for on the way to the masjid and the dua to enter the masjid
๐ฑWhen you enter the masjid for Friday prayers, you should pray two rak’at of prayer. “When any one of you comes on Friday while the Imam delivers the sermon, he should observe two rak’at and should make them short.” (Sahih Muslim)
๐ฑRepeat the adhaan after the muaddhin
๐ฑPray sunnah prayer after the Friday prayer
It is Sunnah to pray four rak’ats after the Jumu’ah prayer (although some scholars say 2 rak’at is permissible).
๐น“When any of you prays the Friday noon prayer, he should pray four rak’ats after it.” (Sahih Muslim)
๐ฑRecite surah Al Kahf
๐นreward: If anyone recites Surat Al-Kahf on Friday, light will shine brightly for him until the next Friday. (Al-Bayhaqi and Al-Haakim)
๐ฑMAKE DUA!
“Friday is divided into twelve hours. Amongst them is an hour in which a Muslim does not ask anything from Allah but He Gives it to him. So seek it in the last hour after the afternoon prayer.” (Sunan Abu Dawud, classified as Sahih)
๐นTo do: just make as much dua as you can between Asr and Maghrib to catch this hour inshaaAllah!
๐ฑSupplicate for the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
๐นIncrease in sending peace and prayers on the Prophet, you can say: Allahumma Salli wa sallam alaa nabiyyinaa Muhammad.
๐ฑReally think about the day of Resurrection
The Day of Judgement will begin on a Friday. So remind yourself that this Day will come and you will stand before your Lord, esp before Friday occurs next time. What have you prepared? Ask Allah to protect you.
๐น“On that day will occur the Resurrection. There is neither any angel nearest (to Allah) nor any heaven nor the earth nor the wind, a mountain and a sea, but all of them will fear the day of Jumu’ah (Friday).” (Sunan Ibn Majah)
❗Remember, you are in a race to do good deeds as much as you can and gain hasaanaat: these coming 7 days are like a jackpot, grab each chance to open the Quran, make a dua, help someone, share knowledge, teach your child something etc!
Stay tuned for more reminders & tips...
AND A VERY SPECIAL PROJECT FOR ALL OF US inshaaAllah!
Much love,
